Program Overview: The strength of our program is our ability to provide long-term treatment for substance dependence while working with each client on other determinants of health since addiction affects the whole person. Some of the complex needs of people include psychiatric disorders, homelessness, cultural specific issues, educational restrictions, health challenges, pharmacological complications and trauma. Phase One of our program is focused on orientation and education. The five weeks includes videos, group therapy sessions, goal and treatment planning, self awareness groups, educational components, individual counseling, anger management techniques, family issues and referral to community resources where necessary. Phase Two of our program focuses on relapse prevention. We continue with appropriate videos, individual counseling, group therapy, community referrals, self-help groups, lectures and education on other addictions such as gambling, eating disorders or co-dependency. We present information on psychiatric disorders, trauma, family roles and healthy lifestyle choices. We review the cycle of change, sexuality issues, managing money, relapse craving signs and medications. Clients are often tested for psychiatric disorders. We do not make any formal diagnosis but forward the results to our consulting physician. We use of variety of proven approaches to work with each client individually The discharge phase includes a discharge planning guide which contains recovery goals, a core issue sheet, specific issue recovery plan agreement, relapse warning signs and the recovery activity checklist. This package is to assist clients in recognizing their relapse signs in order that they may take preventative measures. In Summary, our program is comprised of intake/screening and referral, residential treatment and case management. The components include: treatment planning, educational sessions, relapse prevention, group counseling, individual counseling, harm reduction, lifeskills, discharge planning, education about community resources, transitional housing and continuing care counseling. |
